Darigan Lima
Darigan Lima (Pauline Lampton) is a descendant from the Mulunjali clan of the Bundjualung nation and a descendant of the Wiangumban tribe of North Tanna Island, Vanuatu.Â
Darigan is an alumni of NAISDA and has since worked with many Indigenous and non-Indigenous choreographers and independent artists within Australia for more than 30 years. Darigan has also been a trainer, facilitator and programs coordinator of Far North Queensland’s Indigenous Sports and Recreations Programs for the past 20 years, working with many Indigenous communities across the region to deliver carnivals, healthy active weekly programs and cultural awareness training packages. Through her work, Darigan has developed a methodology, process and approach that is both culturally safe and engages the performing arts as a powerful platform which can bring healing to the voiceless and can both inform and be used as an action toward reconciliation. Her arts practice is driven by both past and current First Nations affairs.Â
Darigan has also been instrumental in working with partners and First Nation’s peoples from North America to introduce the Gathering Of Traditional Owners (GOTO) process within Australia. This process is designed from the GONA (Gathering of Native Americans) process which has stood the test of time as an effective healing and planning model for tribal communities addressing.
WORKSHOP:Â Â
Psalm 149:3 Let them praise His name with dancing and make music to Him with timbrel and harp.
God calls us to become the person HE has created us to be, and to do the things HE has designed us to do. Some of us are called to dance.
Through this workshop we will explore our calling in dance and where that can lead us.
